FAQ
Pricing questions
Is this a subscription?
No. You pay once per auction, only if it needs more than the free plan's items. There's no monthly or annual bill, ever.
Can I upgrade after my auction is live?
Yes. Upgrade from the auction's dashboard at any time. Everything carries over — your items, bids, link, and QR poster. If you're already on Standard, moving up to Pro costs only the difference ($50 CAD), not the full price.
Is the live bid screen only for big auctions?
No. The live bid screen comes with Pro and works for an auction of any size — a 10-item classroom auction can use it just as well as a 150-item gala. Upgrade the auction to Pro and open its big-screen link on any laptop, TV or projector.
What is the post-event impact report?
A polished PDF, included with Pro, that sums up how your auction went: the total raised, sell-through rate, bidder count, a bidding timeline, your top and most contested items, and results by category. It uses your brand colours and leaves out bidders' names and contact details, so you can share it freely with your board, donors and sponsors.
Can I change the order items appear in?
Yes. Bidders see items grouped under category headings. On Standard and Pro, the Reorder button lets you drag the categories into any order, then drag the items within each one, and bidders see the new order as soon as you save. You can rearrange right up until the auction closes. On Free, categories appear in a standard order with items in the order you added them.
Are there any fees on the money we raise?
None. SilentBid doesn't process payments, so there's no percentage and no per-transaction fee. Winners pay your organization directly.
Can I run more than one free auction?
You can build up to 3 free auctions at a time, but only one can be live at once — publish the next when the current one closes. To run auctions side by side, or to fit a bigger event in one auction, upgrade it to Standard or Pro.
How long is my auction's data kept?
Auctions are deleted automatically 180 days after they close, including every bidder's name, email and phone number. You can erase an auction yourself at any time before that, and download your bidder report first. Nothing is kept anywhere but on SilentBid.
Does the free plan show ads?
No. Free auctions carry a small "Powered by SilentBid" footer and that's it — no third-party ads for your bidders to scroll past.
What currency are plans charged in?
Canadian dollars, paid by card through Stripe. That's only for the plan itself — your auction's bids can be shown in dollars, pounds, or euros.
Can bids be shown in pounds or euros?
Yes. Each auction can show amounts with a dollar ($), British pound (£), or euro (€) sign — dollars by default. It's just the symbol: SilentBid never collects or converts money, so winners pay you directly in whatever currency you use.
